HP: Hogwarts - Ground Floor

Created as a fanfiction and role play reference tool.

As accurate to the books as possible, and not movie relevant at all, by the fact that the movie castle would have ended up far too big for so few students. Created on a basic plan (the original school) that builds up from the west wing, with the north wing being a later edition, and the east wing coming later, as the castle needed to be larger.

The greenhouses are to the east, as is the Quidditch pitch, and further on, Hogsmeade. The train station is to the south, across the lake. The forest, the Whomping Willow and Hagrid's hut are south easterly, with the forest circling to the north and to the west.

Annotations on the ground floor

The Great Hall:

The central hub of the entire Harry Potter series.

The Courtyard:

To the left here is where the giants broke through the North Battlements. They then attacked the walls inside the courtyard. The wall at the top of the courtyard is the one which killed Fred.

Staff Room:

Entrance is guarded by two stone griffens (destroyed). A long room.

Entrance Hall (East):

Road to Hogsmeade

Entrance Hall (West):

Lake entrance and grounds.

A: Stairs down to boats

B: The antechamber in which first year students wait before the sorting ceremony

C: Stairs to Dungeon

D: Stairs to Basement

E: Stairs to Kitchen – The door has been blown off

F: Antechamber in which Harry went after his name was taken out of the Goblet of Fire

G: Staircases – shortcut up and down for teachers. This is the route Snape took in PS/SS to reach the third floor first.

H: Courtyard in which the carriages are kept when not being used.

J: Stairs to the first floor

K: Marble staircase and entrance hall – the banister on the stair is broken, and the room is shattered. The griffens have been destroyed, the Slytherin emeralds are all over the floor.
